Custom Sock Design Guide — sock design and presentation example

A good custom sock brief makes the important choices clear: the model, logo placement, colour palette and finishing details. You do not need a finished sock drawing to get started. Share your brand assets and describe the result you want, then use the mockup to review the proposed design.

Choose the silhouette first

Crew, sports, ankle, no-show, knee-high and grip socks offer different shapes and visible design areas. A pattern that works on a long crew sock may need to be simplified for a shorter model. Use the images in the design form to choose a starting point, and explain whether your priority is everyday wear, an active event or a particular gifting occasion.

Decide between placed and repeated logos

A placed logo creates a focal point; a scattered repeat makes the brand part of an all-over pattern. Small lettering, thin lines and very detailed artwork may need adaptation for a knitted design. Send the clearest logo file you have, ideally with your brand guidelines. The form accepts JPG, PNG and PDF files up to 5 MB. You can email other artwork questions to sales@socksprime.com.

Specify colours clearly

Choose the main sock, cuff, heel and toe colours in the form. The palette includes named colours and Pantone references, with an option to enter your own reference. Use the same reference consistently across your brief. The screen preview is a guide rather than a physical colour proof; colour and design details are reviewed during artwork approval.

Review the whole pair, not just the logo

Check the logo position, stripes, any slogan and whether the logo should face outward on each sock. If you want individual names or different text on each pair, select personalisation and describe the variation. Also review the packaging artwork and size mix. A complete approval should cover the sock and its presentation, so later changes can be assessed before production is confirmed.
